May 20, 2016 - United Way of Champaign County’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the results of the FY2017-2018 Community Impact Fund grant process. Our goal was to facilitate a strategic, outcome-based community investment process based on impacting identified goals in education, income and health.
41 local programs will receive a Community Impact Fund grant. These programs are administered by 32 different nonprofit agencies. The grants total $1,365,886 annually. The grant period starts July 1, 2016 and funding is for two years.
This cycle's grants represent a 20% increase in fully funded or nearly fully funded (90% of request or higher) programs from the previous cycle – 18 of 41 programs.
Brian Holding, Board Chair, said “In our most recent strategic plan, we established a direction that is helping transform us from a fundraising organization to a community investment organization focused on achieving measurable results. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes in Education, Income and Health by addressing the underlying causes of community challenges.”
Darcy Sementi, Board member and Chair of the Community Impact Committee, said “The Community Impact Fund grants are determined through a 6 month process that involves many layers of reviews by nearly 100 volunteers. This thorough review process is one of the reasons thousands of people in our County trust United Way with their charitable gifts each year.”
United Way’s total anticipated investments for FY2016 are estimated at $2,716,594.30.
