Mike Ross & Emmie Fisher Selected to Lead 2013 Campaign

United Way of Champaign County announced today that Emmie Fisher and Mike Ross will be the co-chairs of their 2013 Fundraising Campaign. United Way President & CEO Sue Grey said, “Emmie and Mike will be wonderful leaders of our 2013 Campaign efforts. Between Mike’s creativity and Emmie’s long history with United Way, we have great synergy happening”. The theme of this year’s campaign is “This Place We Call Home”.
Mike Ross is the Director of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Emmie Fisher works with small businesses and nonprofits and is a past United Way board chair. “I am honored to step into this volunteer role as Campaign Co-Chair and so excited to serve the community through United Way,” said Ross.
The 2013 Campaign will officially kick off on August 29 at Hessel Park with “Pack the Park”. There will be a collection drive, cookout, music and other festivities.  An exciting element of Pack the Park will be the announcement of the 2013 Campaign Goal. “Our volunteer leadership is crunching the numbers and working hard to set a strategic campaign goal. We can’t wait to reveal it to the community on August 29,” said Grey.
Financial goals are set so that United Way can meet the ever-rising needs of our community and produce measurable community impact. “United Way has a proven record of making progress in their community goal areas of Education, Health & Well-Being, Financial Stability and Community Basics. Our ultimate goal is to make a positive change and lasting impact in our community,” said Fisher.
“Volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work here at United Way and are truly the driving force behind everything we do,” remarked Grey. “Volunteers set our community impact goals, raise funds, serve on program review panels for funding applications and are the ones who determine which programs we fund.  We’re so grateful to Mike & Emmie for stepping up to lead this year’s fundraising campaign.”
